Australian Wine Review – Taste Canowindra seems to be a unique thing to the Canowindra area. I wish there were more of these kinds of places in some of the other NSW wine regions. In our opinion, this little shack is the best thing in the area as far as food and, more importantly, wine are concerned as it gives access to so many regional wineries – even those that don’t have a cellar door. Taste Canowindra offers tastings of around 50 regional wines all in the one place. The owners were saying that the business model is under threat due to lack of assistance from the some of the wineries. I say the wineries would be mad not to support it in the fullest, particularly those who don’t have their own cellar door. The strange thing being that the biggest wineries in the area, the ones with better distribution, are the ones that seem to be behind it the most.
Anyway, we think the idea is great. We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to have so many wines in one place to taste and the staff there were lovely. Make an effort to get to this place if you are going to be anywhere near Canowindra and business people in other regions take notice – this is a good idea for both the punter and the wineries. And best of all – you get to taste all the wines there for free!
