King Valley – Victoria, Australia.
The King Valley is a wonderful valley in North East Victoria with around 2500Ha under vine, it is the biggest single grape growing region in Victoria. The biggest player here is Brown Brothers, who have a full range of wines, but the area is also known for it’s links to the Italian varietals. Prosecco was started here by Dal Zotto, which is the Italian style of bubbly that is easy drinking and fun – lighter in style than champagne it’s fruity and light. It will never surpass champagne for its richness and use in celebratory activities, but an enjoyable summer drop nonetheless. Also common here is Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Tempranillo and others.
La Dolce Vita festival is held here every year which is “The Sweet Life” festival. We got to swan around for the weekend and enjoy all that was on offer from 13 of the wineries in the area that were participating. This won’t give you much insight in to the wines, but might give you an idea of how much fun you can have at the festival.
